Acupuncture for Pain Relief

Updated: Feb 23, 2022

Pain is one of the most common reasons a patient will seek help from Annandale Natural Health & Chinese Medicine's resident acupuncturist and herbalist, Adam Haysom-McDowell.

The beauty of his approach is the flexibility that his qualifications and over 10 years experience give him. No two patients are the same. One person's migraine doesn't equate to another person's headache, and so every patient must be cared for as an individual.

Perhaps your shoulder pain will be best treated with acupuncture and remedial massage. Perhaps your headaches and migraine will greatly benefit from a course of herbal medicine and acupuncture. Perhaps your lower back pain will best be approached with cupping, heat therapy and strengthening exercises.

Using well documented approaches such as acupuncture for chronic shoulder pain (examples here and here), or perhaps cupping is best suited to treat your neck pain. Ear acupuncture, also known as auricular acupuncture is gaining grounds in the research department with how treating areas of the ear can quickly reduce chronic and acute pain (here and here to cite a few). Herbal medicine may be more appropriate for you, as is the case for many where pain relief is seen with turmeric and boswellia for osteoarthritic pain.

The take away message is that there are many approaches to treating pain. Whatever pain you have, if your current therapy is not working, then perhaps a personal approach is what you need. Don't hesitate to get in contact today, or made a booking. Bookings are available Monday to Saturdays.
